At Elena’s Light, we have always taken great pride in fostering the development of cross-cultural friendships between our clients and volunteers. Inspired by the meaningful relationships we have built over the years, Elena’s Light decided to introduce a new community initiative. EL Community is dedicated to creating a safe space for cultural exchange, exploration, and immersion for refugee and immigrant children and families.

Inspired by the meaningful relationships we have built over the years, Elena’s Light introduced this initiative dedicated to creating a safe space for cultural exchange, exploration, and immersion for refugee and immigrant children and families.
Lighting the Future– This speaker series highlights the refugee and immigrant experience. Keynote speakers share what it means to be immigrants/refugees in the U.S., their struggles, and their hopes and goals. With these sessions, women demonstrate their strength, intelligence, and perseverance. Guest Speakers have included,
Lighting the Future: Award Ceremony– At this gala, we honor refugees, immigrants, and those dedicated to supporting them. These individuals have shown remarkable commitment, leadership, and achievements within their communities, triumphing over numerous challenges.
Donation Drive– With community support, we collected pillows, coversheets, personal hygiene items, and toys—that were packaged and donated to our refugee families. Volunteers and staff help to make the care packages. We have worked with community services Amazon, Purple, and Hello Neighbor Network, to name a few. In 2023, we community support we helped host the Hand-in-Hand donation drive and the Common Good and Creative Working donation drive.
